Here's some more progress on the spider mine model. The mesh looks a little scruffy in some areas because it'll be baked later on. I'm debating refining some parts of the model when I've finished the whole thing, so I can put it into a scene with the Bulldozer model I've been working on. If I made a decent environment, all the models could go together quite nicely.

Beautiful Clay
It was pointed out to me by a friend of mine that 3D Studio Max now has a rather fetching clay setting in the viewport options. I've never seen this feature before and I love the way it looks. Here's a quick crop of it on the Bulldozer W.I.P.

The Dozer - Cabin
The bulk of the shape and armor is finished on the cabin. With the majority of the detail on the back finished I'll focus on building the intricate pieces that cover the cabin on the top, front and sides. I've also looked out a few HDRI images to use for lighting and rendering the whole model when it's finished.

The Dozer - Half Way Home
I've just hit the mid-point for this model, It's starting to shape up into something that resembles a bulldozer. I'm tearing into modeling the cabin now. I just need some nice render presets to do the model some justice, the default max lighting is terrible.

The Dozer - Track Covers
Starting to pick up a bit of steam with 3ds Max. The interface feels a little more comfortable now. Time to crack on with building the cabin.

The Dozer - Engine Covers
The design is starting to get a little more complex as it progresses. It turns out I read the tutorial list in the wrong order, I've had to build the engine covers and the track covers before I can build the cabin. More updates soon!

The Dozer - Wheels
The pieces are starting to come together, the model doesn't look so abstract anymore. On to building the cabin next, this could take some time.

The Dozer - Suspension Pt 2
That's one of the more complicated parts of the bulldozer constructed, straight on to the next step! I'd recommend Eat3D tutorials to anyone wanting to refine their 3D modeling skills, they do jump ahead at times but where's the challenge in being spoon fed every little detail?

The Dozer - Suspension Pt 1
Here's a little work in progress on the individual high poly sections of the bulldozer I'm building in 3ds Max. I've recently been following an artist called Vitaly Bulgarov and I picked up a really good idea from him. He models tons of mechanical parts in 3d and then uses them as a starting block for new ideas. Starting next week, I'm going to do the same!

The Dozer - Lower Frame
I've just completed the second part of the "Dozer part 1" tutorial. Below are the low-poly and turbosmoothed views of the model. The whole thing took me around 3-4 hours. I'm starting to speed up a little, I just need to shake the rest of this rust off!
The Dozer
This is the start of a new tutorial I'm working on called the Dozer part 1 by Eat3D. I'll be working on the second part of the tutorial tomorrow. I'm really rusty with 3ds Max but I can feel myself getting to grips with it again already. I believe if I can complete this tutorail and a few others like it, I should be well on my way to creating my own designs to a professional level!
